For most water-based, food and pharmaceutical applications, platinum-cured silicone is the right choice — it offers fast elastic recovery, transparency and reasonable cost. For aggressive chemicals (strong acids, bases, solvents) or high-temperature service, choose PTFE-lined composite tubing. Send us your fluid details and we will recommend the right material.

Tube life depends on system pressure, roller occlusion, fluid chemistry and tube hardness. In light-duty lab use, silicone tubing can last months; in abrasive or high-pressure chemical service, replacement may be needed weekly or monthly. A good rule: replace when flow drops ~10% from baseline or when visible cracks, discoloration or permanent compression marks appear.

Yes — one of the key advantages. A peristaltic pump can run dry without damage because the tube itself is the pumping element and it is self-lubricating against the rollers. This makes them ideal for emptying tanks, sampling and intermittent duty.
